|Planning for the FutureThe Santa Monica History Museum has been collecting and preserving the history of Santa Monica and displaying it within the community for over 33 years. At the Museum, visitors access Santa Monica’s rarest and most significant artifacts, photographs and documents through exhibits, programs and research services. In 2009, the Museum opened a new, state-of-the-art facility on the Santa Monica Public Library campus. Easily accessible and highly visible for the community, this new cultural center provides an exciting hub of ongoing activity. After-school children work on projects in the research library and scholars are able to access archives, artifacts and historical photographs. Many residents and visitors from around the world learn about Santa Monica’s vibrant history in the Permanent and Changing Exhibit Galleries.
Through planned giving, the mission and activities of the Santa Monica History Museum can be supported very significantly when it might otherwise not otherwise have been possible. A special, planned gift affords the opportunity of supporting the Museum in many ways, including a perpetual fund in the donor’s name.
A planned gift to an individual’s valued charity is a generous, heartfelt commitment that can be achieved while maintaining income and lifestyle goals. Generally a bequest in a will or living trust, the charitable donation offers tax-advantaged personal benefits in addition to supporting a charity. The detailed procedure for giving in this manner is usually determined in consultation with a lawyer or wealth management advisor as part of an individual’s overall financial and estate planning.
Gifts from the Heart
Planned gifts can be made at any time of the year to support the Museum while improving one’s own position, both today and tomorrow.
Here are a few ways to make Gifts from the Heart:
Securities & Mutual Funds
Bequest by Will or Living Trust
Life Insurance Beneficiary
Charitable Gift Remainder Trust
Charitable Gift Annuity
Deferred Charitable Gift Annuity
Retirement Plan Beneficiary
Now is the perfect time to dedicate a planned gift to a premiere, engaging and meaningful cultural anchor in Santa Monica’s community, a lasting legacy for all ages to enjoy. Most importantly, a planned gift helps fulfill the Museum’s mission of connecting Santa Monica’s residents, especially children, with their rich, diverse history in a discover-and-explore experience that truly inspires a sense of civic pride and community involvement.
