Macerich – Santa Monica Place

Macerich has been proud to be a part of Santa Monica for over 30 years. With their headquarters located in this dynamic city, it was exciting for them to have the opportunity to purchase Santa Monica Place in 1999 and, now, redevelop the property into an open-air retail and dining destination that will fit perfectly with this thriving community.  Santa Monica Place, after a $265 million renovation project opened in 2010. The 550,000 square feet of 80 to 100 shops includes major retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Nike and CD2 among other great retail names. The new rooftop dining deck is set to be a star attraction for both residents and visitors, offering not only exceptional food experiences but also the chance to enjoy the city’s ocean views and breezes in a spectacular new setting. The open-air mall integrates the Third Street Promenade and the Civic Center development project. Santa Monica Place was originally designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry and opened in 1980. The company is a major contributor to the build-out of the new Museum.
