Reserve a group tour at the Santa Monica History Museum

The museum provides docent or curator led tours of its exhibitions year-round for schools, groups, and institutions.

Our tours bring history to life through original photographs, artifacts and documents.

Tours are available Monday through Friday between 10am and 4pm.

Museum & Tour Policies

Confirmation: Please email the Museum at info@santamonicahistory.org to reconfirm the tour date and time.

Cancellation: If a tour must be canceled, please contact the Museum at least 48 hours in advance by calling (310) 395-2290. If the tour is canceled within 48 hours of the tour date, the tour deposit will be considered a charitable contribution to the Museum. Any additional payments will be refunded within 10 business days. If requested, the group tour may be rescheduled for a future date. The Santa Monica History Museum reserves the right to cancel any portion of the guided tour as circumstances warrant such as following L.A. County health guidelines. In such an event, the tour will be rescheduled for a later date, if requested.

Rules and Regulations:
If Lost or late: If you know you will be late, please call the Museum at (310) 395-2290. If late please be prepared for the possibility of a shortened program or cancellation of the tour. Plan to arrive with sufficient time to park and exit your vehicle(s) to ensure your tour begins at the scheduled time.

No Smoking: There is no smoking permitted anywhere at or in the Museum.

Animals: No Pets are allowed on Museum property.

Photography of the exhibits is permitted, but no video recording is allowed. Please check with your docent to confirm if they are comfortable appearing in photographs before taking pictures.

Schools / Youth Groups

Duration: approximately 1 hour
Attendees: Kindergarten – 12th grade students, including subject area classes and youth groups
Cost: $200 per class/group (up to 35 students). Please inquire about need-based fee waivers and subsidized visits.

Please make reservations one month in advance.

These tours bring history to life by exposing students to original photographs, artifacts and documents that make young citizens aware of the city’s rich and diverse multicultural past. The museum continually provides historical information for classroom studies of Santa Monica history. High school students have also participated in the museum’s preservation projects.

Teachers can schedule a class tour by calling the museum or filling out the online Tour Reservation Form.

Guidelines
Tour Reservation Guidelines:

Reservations: Make at least 1 month in advance

Dates: Monday – Monday through Friday, between 10am and 4pm

Group Size: Maximum of 35 children per time slot. Fill out a separate form for each group of 35 children.

Cost: $200 per class/group (up to 35 students). Please inquire about need-based fee waivers and subsidized visits.

Chaperones: Chaperones (age 16+) are required for all school group visits. There should be one chaperone for every 6 children and they must remain with the group at all times.

Cost: Tours are free for all schools and youth groups in the Santa Monica Bay area
Chaperones: Chaperones (age 16+) are required for all school group visits, one for every 6 kids and MUST remain with the group at all times.

Guided group tours receive the personal attention of qualified museum guides who will interpret the unique history of Santa Monica.

Tour Reservation Guidelines:

Group Size: Maximum of 75 persons
Cost: $10 per person – minimum fee of $200 for docent-led tours. Private curator-led tours customized to your group’s interests are $400.

To confirm your reservation a check or credit card payment is required and must be received prior to the reserved tour date.
