Map & Directions

Our address is 1350 7th Street on the campus of the Santa Monica main library.

From the 10 Santa Monica Freeway exit Lincoln Boulevard. Turn right on Lincoln blvd. Continue to Santa Monica Boulevard and turn left. At 7th Street, turn right. The museum will be on your left, across from the Fire Station. 

We are metro expo Downtown Santa Monica station close.

Parking
A public parking garage is available on 7th Street next to the museum as well as metered street parking.  Bike racks are available immediately adjacent to the museum.

Accessibility

Drop-off
The most convenient location to drop off a guest who may have limited mobility is on 7th Street, directly in front of our museum.  There is ramp access leading directly to our front door.

Parking
Accessible parking is available in the underground parking. Entrance is on the West side of 7th Street.  There are several spots available on each level. Take the elevator to ground level and head East to 7th street, where the ramp is available to our front door.

Please visit Big Blue Bus or Santa Monica Expo Line for more information.

Restrooms
Our restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

To contribute to the health and safety of SMHM visitors, volunteers, and staff, enhanced protocols are implemented throughout the museum.

Per the city of Santa Monica guidelines and L.A. County Department of Public Health, as of March 31, 2023, local, regional, state and federal COVID-19 emergency declarations have concluded. 

  • Hand sanitizer stations are accessible inside the museum.
  • Interactive surfaces are wiped frequently
  • The use of masks encouraged.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and valid photo ID upon entry to the museum*

*Visitors attesting to qualifying medical or religious exemptions may supply proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours and valid photo ID.

Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include:

  • COVID-19 vaccination card
  • Photo of a vaccination card (both sides)
  • Documentation of vaccination from a licensed healthcare provider
  • Personal digital COVID-19 vaccine record issued by the State of California, Los Angeles County, or similar documentation issued by another state or jurisdiction. California residents can visit myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov to download a QR code to be kept on your phone

An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present. We cannot guarantee you will not be exposed to COVID-19 during your visit. Those visiting the SMHM do so at their own risk of such exposure.
