The Santa Monica History Museum is excited to announce the next lecture in its free Discover the History lecture series will be Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 at 7:00pm at the Santa Monica History Museum at 1350 7th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401. This lecture will focus on the history of the Old Soldiers’ Home – now known as the Veterans Affairs West Los Angeles Medical Center. The speakers will be Ricardo Bandini Johnson of the Bandini Foundation and Hero’s Golf Course and Andrew Carrillo of the Bandini Foundation and Past President of the Santa Monica Historical Society.
The speakers will cover the history of the VA campus in West Los Angeles from its original deed by Arcadia Bandini de Baker, wife of Santa Monica co-founder Colonel Robert S. Baker and Senator John P. Jones, Santa Monica co-founder to the state-of-the-art facility it is today. The lecture will be an engaging and educational evening detailing this storied fixture of our local landscape. The lecture is offered free to the public, but seating is limited and RSVPs are encouraged.
