The Tegner Building was designed by local architect Henry C. Hollwedel in 1925 in the Beaux Arts Classical Revival style. It was a four story, steel frame and brick structure. In 1936 a major remodeling of the ground floor and mezzanine was done in Streamline Moderne style, including the Henshey’s signage shown here. The business closed in 1992 due to slow business and trouble competing with large chain retailers. The building was demolished due to damage from the 1994 Northridge Earthquake.
