Mosaic: Sacred Springs. Explore the history and lifestyle of the original inhabitants of the Tongva village at Kuruvungna.

Kuruvungna meaning “place where we are in the sun,” is located around the site of ancient springs that provided fresh water for the thriving village and later, inspired the naming of Santa Monica and served as an early source of its water supply.

Presenters: Bob Ramirez, President of the Gabrielino-Tongva Springs Foundation. Desiree Martinez, President of Cogstone Resource Management and co-Director of the Pimu Catalina Island Archaeology Project.

Presented in collaboration with the Santa Monica Conservancy. August 27, 2023. 5:00pm -6:15pm. FREE for Museum Members.
