Arts in Santa Monica

Join us at our FREE Hands on History craft event for children.

This month’s craft activity we craft a Crayon Stained Glass Window.

Supplies:

  • Construction Paper
  • Wax paper
  • Glue
  • Crayon Shavings
  • Ribbon
  • Markers/Colored Pencils/Crayons
  • Hole puncher
  • Scissors
  • Iron

Steps:

  1. Cut construction paper in half.
  2. Cut wax paper to the same size.
  3. Fold the wax paper in half and add crayon shavings in-between the layers.
  4. Place the iron on the wax paper with the shavings in-between. Let in melt and set aside to cool once shavings have melted.
  5. Fold construction paper in half and draw a design on one side.
  6. While folded, cut out the design on the construction paper.
  7. Decorate/Color the design.
  8. Insert the cool wax paper design into the construction paper and glue it down.
  9. Hole punch the top center of the paper and tie the ribbon to it.
  10. Hang near or on a window and enjoy!

This program is free and open to all ages. Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis.  This event will be held at the Santa Monica History Museum, 1350 7th St, Santa Monica CA, 90401.  The museum can be reached by following routes to the Main Library.  The Main Library is served by Big Blue Bus routes 1, 7, R7, R10 and 18. Ride your bike? Bicycle parking racks are available at the library. The Santa Monica History Museum is wheelchair accessible.
